A graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, Mr. Broemer practices almost exclusively in the areas of Labor and Employment Law, Employee Benefits (ERISA) Litigation and Plan Design/Compliance issues, and Risk Management. Mr. Broemer represents primarily self-insuring employers, employee welfare benefit plans, third party administrators, plan reinsurers, and local government plans.
Mr. Broemer is also a leading member of the ABA’s Labor and Employment Law Section and Employee Benefits Committee (“ABA-EBC”), as well as a contributing member of Sub-Committees on Welfare Benefits Plans, Federal Civil Procedure, and ERISA Preemption.
Mr. Broemer has served in the past as the Management Chair of the ABA-EBC’s Sub-Committee on Employee Benefits Claims and the EBC’s chair for regional continuing legal education programs on ERISA. Mr. Broemer is currently the EBC’s Management Chair for Legal Ethics.
Mr. Broemer is an editor and contributing author of the ABA’s comprehensive text “Employee Benefits Law” and a speaker at various ABA and private seminars on Employee Benefits and ERISA litigation. Mr. Broemer has also published articles on a variety of subjects, including HIPAA, Benefit Claims Regulations, Benefit Claims Litigation, Exhaustion of Remedies, Estoppel in ERISA Claims, Utilization Review, Claim File Management, FSAs, HSAs, HRAs, and COBRA.
