Nancy Assel received her J.D. degree from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1990, and her bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University in 1987, majoring in political science and minoring in psychology. After working as a staff attorney for two years at the Third Circuit Court of Appeal in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Nancy moved to Houston, where she worked for one year as law clerk for the Honorable Michael Schneider in the 157th Judicial District Court in Harris County, Texas. Thereafter, Nancy moved into private practice, where she represents and advises both individuals and businesses in the areas of corporate representation, real estate matters, business and commercial litigation, contracts, and commercial transactions.

Nancy is admitted to practice law in Louisiana and Texas, as well as before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
